Reel Pride Wraps 23rd Year With Record Attendance 9/24/12

Fresno’s 23rd annual LGBT film festival, Reel Pride, concluded it’s 5 day run Sunday, ending with the award winning movie, Cloudburst.  Starring Academy Award winning actresses Olympia Dukakis and Brenda Fricker, Fresno’s historic art deco Tower Theatre hosted a packed auditorium, as members of the LGBT community and their straight allies filled the seats.  Festival Director James Figueroa announced, in remarks closing the Festival, record attendance for this year’s presentations.

The annual event is the sixth oldest LGBT film festival in the United States, and is held each September in Fresno.  Three venues hosted this year’s films:  The Tower Theatre, The Starline Lounge, and The Voice Shop.  Over 50 films, shorts, and documentaries were presented, and local clubs and restaurants hosted after-parties throughout the week.

Planning has already begun on the 24th annual Reel Pride.
